Hog Rider Decks
Princess -> Minions or Mega Minion
The Log -> Fireball
Usually, with hog Rider Decks, it is best to not use your full push right at the beginning. Instead, it's better to use a single Hog Rider to see what kinds of counters your opponent has. Do this if you have the Hor Rider in your opening hand. After you know your opponent's counters, be ready to strike. Use the Log if they have the Tombstone. Place the Ice Golem in front of your Hog Rider if they have the Skeleton Army. Another strong push is the Ice Spirit paired up with the Hog Rider for added damage if your opponent isn't careful.
Your strongest defense in most cases is going to be the Barbarians. Use them to surround a Giant to take him out quickly, or in front of a Hog Rider and prepare for a strong counter push with your Hog Rider. The Princess is your only strong anti air troop, so you'll have to be careful about when you use her if your opponent has a lot of air troops. Use the Mini Pekka as a solid defense, along with the Ice Golem to distract troops, and your opponent will have a hard time breaking through to your tower!
Hog Trifecta Freeze
Freeze -> Poison
This deck utilizes strong defenses and turns them into powerful counter-pushes. The best way to do this is to use the Musketeer and Valkyrie to get some positive elixir trades and use their remaining health to pair up with the Hog Rider for a nearly unstoppable defense. The Freeze can be used on Offense but only very carefully, and probably only once or twice a match as a secret weapon. If you do this, and learn the timing of the Freeze, even strong defenses like Barbarians won't be able to stop the Hog Rider's Mighty Hammer.
Do your best to pump up as much as you can to generate enough elixir that your opponent won't be able to stop you. You should use the skeletons as a distraction and the Valkyrie and Musketeer to clear heavier tanks or swarms of troops. The cannon is a great option if you need to stop an enemy Hog Rider, or want additional support against heavier troops. Try not to rely on the Cannon as much though, because the Cannon can't be turned into a counter-push. If needed, you can even use the Freeze along with either the Musketeer or Valkyrie to stop nearly any push.
The Log -> Zap
This deck offers two types of offense: Slow, and Fast. The Slow offense is the one that builds up with the Barbarian Hut and 3 Musketeers. Place the Barbarian hut in the middle of your arena and use it both as a distraction for large tanks, and as a constant supply of pressure to add with your Hog Rider. The 3 Musketeers add another strong push and will help you turn a 1 crown, into a 2 crown victory within seconds. I recommend splitting the 3 Musketeers in front of your King's tower. Place the Hog Rider in front of the single Musketeer and the Ice Golem in front of the 2 to really test your opponent's skill. The Fast offense is quickly using your Hog Rider paired up with the Fireball or Log to get some quick damage done on your opponent's tower. You can also place the Ice Golem in front of your Hog Rider as an added protection for your Hog Rider.
Your quickest response to pushes is the Mega Minion, paired with the Ice Golem if you need to distract something. Use this against Hog Rider decks, or spell bait decks. When facing heavier decks, you'll want to counter with your Barbarian Hut because it offers so much HP. If needed, you can also use the 3 Musketeers to shred down the HP of nearly any unit. The best place to put these ladies is in the middle of the arena, right in front of your King's Tower. If your opponent doesn't have Fireball, Lightning, or the Rocket, placing them behind your King's tower is also a good option.
